Behind the Chair: In Her Spring Era-Minneapolis Edition
There’s something about spring in Minneapolis.
We’ve layered. We’ve bundled. We’ve survived another winter. And now? Women are ready for change— but not chaos.
This season, behind the chair, I’m not hearing, “Let’s do something crazy.”
I’m hearing:
“I just want to feel fresh.”
“I want it brighter—but still me.”
“I don’t have time for high maintenance.”
And honestly? That aligns perfectly with what’s happening in fashion capitals like Copenhagen and New York right now. The mood is refined, effortless, and intentional.
But here’s the difference— in Minneapolis, it has to work in real life. We need hair that looks good in 40- degree wind and still holds its own at a client meeting downtown. We need dimension that grows out beautifully between busy schedules, kids’ activities, and business launches.
So this spring, we’re leaning into softness.
Think warmer, believable blondes. Buttery tones that catch light when the sun finally hits. Caramel woven through brunettes so subtly it feels expensive but never obvious. Even strawberry warmth is making a quiet entrance—not bold copper, just a kiss of warmth that glows.
Nothing stripy. Nothing harsh. Just dimension that moves when you move.
Cuts are following the same energy. Airy layers that add lift without removing length. Face framing that enhances your features but still pulls back into a low bun for work, a claw clip for school pickup, or soft waves for dinner in the North Loop or downtown Wayzata.
It’s polished— but practical.
And fashion? It’s echoing the same softness.
Minneapolis women are styling what they already own—just smarter.
Relaxed denim paired with a tailored blazer. Ballet flats or loafers instead of boots (finally). Soft pastel knits layered under neutral trenches. A silk scarf tied loosely in the hair on a windy Saturday at the farmers market.
Nothing overdone. Nothing that feels try-hard.
Just super thoughtful.
That’s what I love about this season. It respects your life.
You don’t need a dramatic haircut.
You don’t need a full wardrobe overhaul.
You don’t need high-maintenance color.
You need refinement.
So maybe it is brightening just around the face with a gloss. Maybe it’s adding movement without losing security. Maybe it’s pulling out that blouse you already love and pairing with new denim and sneakers versus a mini skirt, tights and loafers (also so fun).
Spring in Minneapolis isn’t about reinvention. It’s about emerging. And behind the chair, my job isn’t to change who you are, it’s to elevate who you are. Stop thinking it all needs to be done at once, a new season is time to reflect and be open to change, less is more.
Respectfully, your current or new hair colorist,
Heather xo
